There’s been a lot going on for the past year and a half and with the support of my old team and partner at Southland, I’m starting something new.  It’s definitely not the same, but I’m hoping some kind of hybrid result of my years of interest and effort.  Back at the beginning of the year, I bought some small construction machinery (a Kubota K008 mini excavator and a DitchWitch SK600 stand-on track front loader) to work on some projects. Specifically to dig out a basement under our house (while living there).  So some calcs and plans and shoring and we should be good to go.  But real life gets pretty busy.  So we’re getting ready to pull permits to work on a couple bathrooms in a vacant rental that’s long overdue.  And I’m getting some interest at Lewis Civil, which is great cause I feel I can help people out.

So eventually I’ll get my survey license, maybe a robotic total station (maybe with a laser scanner on top), work towards my contractor’s license with all these projects and be able to bring it all to bear to be able to fluidly work through a project as a one stop shop for small work outside a structure.  Or maybe I’ll just go dig in the dirt somewhere and see if that’s fun.
